Ubuntu Packagemanagement

Because Ubuntu is a derivate of Debian, most or even all of the info provided on Debian packagemanagement applies to Ubuntu, too.

What is different for Ubuntu are the Ubuntu Personal Package Archives (PPA).

You can add one like so:

# install your ppa-helper add-apt-repository
sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
# add the ppa:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:semiosis/ubuntu-glusterfs-3.3

This will add the repository including the corresponding GPG-key. Once done you can continue the usual way:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install PACKAGE
